Fire Destroys Mid-Michigan Barn

Posted: Updated:

CORUNNA, Mich. (WLNS) - There's hardly anything left standing at a Shiawassee County barn after a fire ripped through it.

The flames broke out at 2753 S. Vernon near Corunna around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

"When we arrived on scene, the fire was fully involved in the building. It was through the roof," said Fire Chief Bill Baker, with the Venice Township Fire Department.

There were two people working on a combine engine when it caught fire. They were both able to get out safely.

They were also able to get some things out of the barn, but they say it's still hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. The barn is a total loss.

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
