Pro-Duggan PAC Outraises All Others In Michigan

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - A super PAC supporting Detroit mayoral candidate Mike Duggan is far outraising other political groups in Michigan this year.

Turnaround Detroit has raised $2.8 million to help Duggan in the city's nonpartisan general election next week, $1.7 million more than a PAC for Republicans in the state House. A political action committee backing Duggan's opponent Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon has raised a little more than $300,000.

Both mayoral race committees rank in the top 10 PACs in the state this election cycle, according to the Michigan Campaign Finance Network.

A super PAC can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money, including from corporations and unions, to campaign independently for candidates.

Other top PACs include Blue Cross Blue Shield and committees for hospitals and real estate agents.
