Safety Tips Before You Go Trick-Or-Treating

Posted: Updated:

Kids across the state will hit the streets Thursday night to do some "trick-or-treating" for Halloween.

While they're out, the Lansing Police Department has some tips to keep them safe.

Police suggest "trick-or-treating" in a familiar neighborhood.

They also recommend older children go out in groups, or be accompanied by an adult.

Make sure the length of costumes are short enough to prevent anyone from tripping. Use reflective tape to make sure your kids can be easily seen.

And of course, parents, remember to inspect your child's candy before they dig in.

If you're planning to head out, be sure to check up to see what time the trick-or-treating hours start.

The Meridian Mall is hosting a mall-wide trick-or-treat from 4 to 5p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
