JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - On Thursday morning police found a 2-year-old Jackson County boy wandering alone on a sidewalk.

Police picked up the small child on McDevitt Avenue, near second street in Summit Township.

For five hours, police say they tried to find the boy's family. They went door-to-door in the surrounding area. His father was eventually found a block away, on Meyers Avenue.

The father told police he fell asleep after working third shift the night before.

Right now, the toddler is with human services.
