Doctor Speaks Out Despite Criminal Investigation

ALBION, Mich. (WLNS) -- Saturday patients and friends of Dr. Horace Davis held signs, cheered and prayed in his support.

Wednesday police raided the Davis's office. Thursday officials charged him with two counts of criminal sexual conduct. Since then, Davis bailed out of jail.

Saturday he stopped by his Albion office, where dozens of supporters greeted him.

"The people are here because they trust me and the people are here because, for 38 years, I've given my life and my career to the citizen's of this town," Davis said.

Davis's charges stem from an appointment three years ago. A woman claims he inappropriately touched her then-11-year-old daughter during a physical exam. Davis insists he's innocent.

"They know this to be a lie and it will be proven at the appropriate time," he said.

Many of Davis's patients, who came to his office Saturday, say they support him.

"Dr. Davis is kind and gentle and would never do some of the things he's been accused of," said patient Brenda Davis.

"He's a very good person, always has been," said patient Gloria Ridley. "He helps people when they don't have money to come to the doctor, he would take them anyway."

The doors to Davis's Albion office remain closed Saturday, but Davis said he hopes to have the office back open by Tuesday or Wednesday, despite everything that's going on.

"I try to serve this community in the best way possible. I never thought I'd have police barging into my office and putting guns to my chest," Davis said.
