JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - Comcast says it is expanding a program to provide high-speed Internet access at low cost for low-income families in Michigan with help from former NFL coach Tony Dungy.

The company on Monday announced updates on the effort involving its Internet Essentials program.

In a statement, Dungy said the Dungy Family Foundation will help qualifying families at Middle School at Parkside in Jackson get Internet access.

Meanwhile, the Comcast Foundation announced a $25,000 grant award to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Jackson to upgrade the center's Tony Dungy Lounge and rename it Tony Dungy Media Center. Dungy grew up in Jackson.

Comcast says that in the last two years the Internet Essentials program has helped more than 250,000 families nationwide, including nearly 13,000 in Michigan.
