Eaton Rapids Man Helps Homeless

Posted: Updated:

EATON RAPIDS, Mich. (WLNS) - An Eaton Rapids man is on a mission. His name is Mike Karl and he's spent the past week living on the streets.

Why? Because he knows first hand what it's like to be homeless. He didn't have a place to stay for six months back in 2005.

So, in an effort to raise awareness and just help, Karl has been providing food, water and shelter to dozens of people.

Often times Karl says homeless people are looked at as being bad people, but they just need a helping hand to get back on their feet.

"It's been awesome this week, we've gotten twelve people off the streets, I hope everyone that's watching this understands this is important, we need to take care of each other, that's where we've neglected," said Mike Karl, Helping Find and Rescue Homeless.

6 News Reporter Nick Perreault spent part of the night walking the streets with Karl and will have much more on his mission coming up tonight on 6 News at 11.
