People Line Up To Show Off Deer Killed On Opening Day

Posted: Updated:

PERRY, Mich. (WLNS) - Friday the 15th marked opening day of deer season. Thousands of hunters across Michigan got up early in search for the biggest and best.

"The people will just start coming in by the car loads truck loads. The deer will be hanging up. The fire will be just blazing high and we're having a good time," said Mark Millis, the Perry Buck Pole organizer.

Throughout the day hunters will hang their kill to see who bagged the biggest buck.

But as for most hunters, the highlight of the hunt has yet to come.

"Definitely going to eat the meat. That's the best part of getting them is eating them," said Kris Groesbeck, who got one of the biggest bucks among the group.

Hunting season will continue to run through the end of November.
