LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Three people were injured, two of them critically, after a fire right behind RPM Auto Sales in south Lansing.

It happened around 12:30p.m. Tuesday on the 5400 block of S. Cedar St.

A spokesman for the fire department says the fire started while three men were working on a Suburban's fuel tank. The SUV was sitting up on a lift and fell to the ground, sparking flames.

Two of the men were taken to a local hospital. A third was injured, but firefighters say he refused treatment.

Fire fighters were able to put out the spot fires quickly, but had to deal with heavy smoke.

Southbound Cedar Street is back open after being closed at Jolly Road.

Firefighters responded to initial calls of an explosion at the site. Now they say it was just a fire and that nothing exploded.
