It was a cold day all around Michigan. Ithaca was trying to protect the longest winning streak in America against Montrose.
The teams have met in the playoffs every year, dating back to 2010, and this game was a thriller.
Travis Smith hit Logan Hessbrook and he was gone, as ithaca led 21-14 in the fourth.
But Montrose was driving. A touchdown and extra point would tie the game. A Jeff Long toss to the enzone gave Montrose a touchdown, and they needed the extra point for the tie.
But the kick was wide left, and it caps off a painful day for kickers. The pressure got to Montrose.
And the Yellow Jackets won again to make it 55-straight victories. Ithaca will play for a fourth straight title in Division VI.
