Local Store Offers Higher Prices On Black Friday

There's a mid-Michigan store that's putting an unusual twist on Black Friday.

Instead of a sale, they're giving you the chance to pay more than the purchase price.

The Everybody Reads bookstore in Lansing is offering a 10% mark-up today.

If you do it, they'll match your contribution and add *another* 5%.

That means 25% of the price of your purchase will go to the garden project of the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

Scott Harris owns the bookstore and says events like this are exactly what his business is meant to do.

"It exemplifies what our bookstore's mission is which is to make sure everyone irrespective of everything is able to access the resources we have at hand," he said.

He hopes to raise a $1,000.

They've reached that goal two of the past three years, and are optimistic they'll reach it again.

The special fundraising deal" runs until Friday night at 7 p.m.
