LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The holidays are no fun when you're hungry.

If you're able, we're hoping you'll make a monetary donation as part of our 12 Days of Giving event that benefits the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

A little can go a very long way.

6 News is doing something very different this year and very special with twelve days of giving, instead of just one.

"They're sorting food which has been donated from local stores and local individuals and families. We sort this food and then we make it available to people in need in our community," said Joe Wald, Executive Director, Greater Lansing Food Bank.

People all over Michigan are in need food is certainly plentiful in Michigan as well. It doesn't just stop there. People can keep giving after the 12 Days of Giving.

"Well throughout the twelve days and beyond. Even into the first of the year we have a need. We have a a need 12 months out of the year. We have a need for food, for funds and for volunteers. So even when people bring food to us. We still need volunteers to sort it and distribute it," said Wald.

For just one dollar, the Greater Lansing Food Bank can buy nine pounds of food.
