U of M, Allegiance Health To Become Affiliates

Posted: Updated:

ANN ARBOR and JACKSON, Mich. (WNLS) - The University of Michigan Health Systems and Allegiance Health have announced they will become affiliates with a $100 million investment.

Allegiance will become a member of the UMHS network.

"This kind of partnership will really leverage the expertise of both of our health systems," said Georgia Fojtasek, R.N., Ed.D., president and CEO of Allegiance Health. She says the two health systems will continue to share services over the next seven years, which is critical with a growing population.

The two already work together to provide radiation oncology to cancer patients, as  well as heart care treatment.

The president says the partnership could be finalized as early as next summer.
