(WLNS) - Two skydivers are dead after they crashed into each other during a dive in Arizona.

Witnesses told police both had their parachutes deployed when they collided. As the two crashed both parachutes collapsed.

One person died at the scene. The other diver was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

"Both the canopies of the chutes were open and they were descending. Then at the point of impact they collided with each other, the canopies collapsed and they subsequently fell to the ground," said Sgt. Brian Jerome, Eloy Police Department.

A third skydiver was injured, but is expected to survive.

The collision happened at Skydive Arizona, which is a training facility about 60 miles south of Phoenix.
