Man Gets 11 Charges After Police Chase

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Officers had their hands full Tuesday night as they chased a man through a Lansing neighborhood and into a backyard.

It started as a traffic stop around 8:55 p.m. Tuesday. When officers tried to stop the man, known as Jaime Raul Lugo Jr., he kept driving.

Lugo eventually came to a stop and then ran from the vehicle. Officers caught the suspect in the back yard of a home on the 4900 block of Burchfield.

The suspect was arrested, though he put up a fight and resisted the arrest. Officers found Lugo had possession of narcotics and a stolen hand gun.

On Wednesday the 28-year-old Lansing man was arraigned on 11 charges. His bond is $20,000.

Count 1: Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture (Cocaine, Heroin or another Narcotic) less than 50 grams (Felony)
Count 2: : Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture (Cocaine, Heroin or another Narcotic) less than 50 grams (Felony)
Count 3: Weapons – Firearms – Receiving and Concealed (Felony)
Count 4: Weapons – Carrying Concealed (Felony)
Count 5: Weapons – Firearms – Altering ID marks (Felony)
Count 6: Weapons – Felony Firearm (Felony)
Count 7: Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing (Felony)
Count 8: Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing (Felony)
Count 9: Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing (Felony)
Count 10: Controlled Substance – Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor)
Count 11: Operating – License Suspended, Revoked, Denied (Misdemeanor)

Lugo is scheduled in district court for a pre-exam conference and preliminary hearing next week.
