Police: Pine Tree Pilfered In Fraternity Pledging

Posted: Updated:

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - There's one less tree standing at the University of Michigan after what police say was part of a fraternity pledging activity.

The Michigan Daily reports campus police interviewed a dozen students after the pine tree was stolen early Wednesday from a parking lot and taken to a fraternity house.

Police didn't release the name of the fraternity involved. The roughly 13-foot tree was found in the bed of a pickup truck and was taken by investigators.

The Ann Arbor News reports the case is being investigated as a larceny. Police say such tree thefts increase in December ahead of the Christmas holiday.
