ATF Offers Reward In Heidelberg Project Fire Probe

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (AP) - Federal authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information that solves a series of fires at several structures in Detroit known as the Heidelberg Project.

There have been at least seven fires at various structures since May 2.

Heidelberg Project creator Tyree Guyton transformed his decaying, crime-ridden neighborhood into an interactive sculpture park on Detroit's east side. His work began in 1986.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating the case along with Detroit authorities. Special Agent Daryl McCrary says he's concerned about families in the surrounding homes and firefighters who respond to the Heidelberg fires.
