TMSG: Junior Achievement Helps Local Students Succeed

Posted: Updated:

OKEMOS, Mich. (WLNS) - Okemos Junior Taylor Taylor is comfortable in the spotlight on-stage. Off-stage, she's quick to highlight one of the big reasons why: Junior Achievement [JA] of Mid-Michigan's always entertaining Starmakers event.

"Just the energy from the crowd and being on-stage it's a great feeling all around," said Taylor, a JA of Mid-Michigan Starmaker.

Junior Achievement works to make everything come together for area students by teaching through classroom volunteers valuable career and life skills.

"Entrepeneurship. And as a performer, that's really important because I myself am like a business and I need to be out in front of people and positive," said Taylor.

JA Starmakers Mentor Lisa Smith says she's positive events like this bring out the best in the kids. "They have the opportunity to stand up and perform in front of hundreds of business people and leaders, to speak to a crowd and this will serve them for the rest of their lives," she said.
