Church Collects Baskets For Foster Kids For Holidays

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Members of Michigan Knights of Columbus gathered in Lansing Friday to put together baskets for foster kids and families filled with clothing, hats and gloves.

They'll be sent to Detroit to give to children through the Holy Cross Children's Services. The group covers the entire state of Michigan.

Organizers say it's great to be able to help others have a beter holiday.

"It is absolutely amazing because some of these children have never ever received a gift before and they're amazed that people that don't know them are actually giving them gifts and it really is. It just warms, warms your heart," said Maureen Malinkowski, with Ladies of Knights of Columbus.

Last year, the group delivered 3,500 sweatshirts, 650 bath baskets, 400 hats, scarves and mittens and $7,500 in gift cards and cash donations.
