Fans Welcome Home Victorious Spartans

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- The Michigan State University Spartans beat the Ohio State University Buckeyes, bringing home a win and a trip to the Rose Bowl.

Sunday fans saluted their Spartans by flooding the airport and coming to campus. More than 100 fans showed up at the Skandalaris Center to greet their team as they got off the bus.

"This doesn't happen all the time, obviously, so I want to see the team," said MSU fan Sally Gordon. "It's just great to be here and be a part of this."

Fans young and old came out to support their Spartans, hand them roses, take pictures and get autographs.

Super fans, like James Green, followed the team all the way to Indianapolis. Green made sure to get back in time to greet the Spartans at home.

"To see all that red start filing out of the stadium and it was nothing but green afterwards. I mean, they worked hard all year for this and I just couldn't be more proud of them," Green said.

The satisfaction also comes from MSU coaches. They're happy to be home and bring Spartan fans a victory.

"It's great to be back in town here and get to celebrate with our community," said MSU Assistant Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator Pat Narduzzi. "It's been a longtime goal to get to go to the Rose Bowl and I know the Spartan Nation has wanted to get there as well and we were finally able to bring it to them."

"It's a special day," said MSU Head Coach Mark Dantonio. "We try to make life moments for our players and I think we're doing that. It's a great moment for us."
