Michigan DNR Stocks More Than 1 Million Fish

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says it stocked more than a million fish this year at 111 different locations throughout the state.

DNR Fish Production Manager Gary Whelan says in a statement that it was "another outstanding fall stocking season" that will boost fishing opportunities throughout the state. In all, the DNR says its Fisheries Division stocked eight different species.

Fall fish stockings consisted of brook trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, steelhead, Atlantic salmon, lake sturgeon, walleye and muskellunge.

Details of stocking efforts in specific locations around the state are posted online.
