Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Crews worked Monday to repair a gas leak in Lansing after a contractor hit a line with a backhoe.

It happened around 1p.m. on Saginaw just past Worthington Drive.

Fire trucks blocked off a portion of the road while crews from Consumers Energy shut down the gas line. Gas and power for two nearby homes was shut off as well.

Fire officials say the leak was shut off in just about an hour.

Crews from Consumers Energy say they are evaluating how long a repair could take.
