Thousands Of Arlington National Cemetery Veterans May Not Get A Wreath This Year

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - It happens every year during the holiday season, an army of volunteers place wreaths at tens of thousands of grave sites at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

However, monetary donations are down this year and the non profit group "Wreaths Across America" says it's falling short of its goal of 110 thousand wreaths.

As a result, the president of the group says there could be thousands of headstones at the cemetery this year that could go undecorated this holiday season.

The wreaths will be placed on the tombstones on Dec. 14.

With fewer donations, the group expects to have close to 35,000 fewer wreaths for the soldiers in Arlington.
