FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A Flint woman convicted of killing the father of her child during an argument by running him over with a car has been sentenced to 15-30 years in prison.

The Flint Journal reports 28-year-old Ladora Chantell Snell was sentenced Tuesday by Genesee County Circuit Judge Geoffrey L. Neithercut. She was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Mack Hill Parrish.

Police were called to the scene on Sept. 29, 2012. Prosecutors say that Snell got into her car, backed up, directed the vehicle at Parrish and then accelerated. After striking Parrish, prosecutors say Snell paused for a moment and then ran him over.

Parrish died after being hospitalized.

Defense lawyer Jeffrey Clothier argued that Snell was acting in self-defense. An appeal is planned.
