Detroit Mayor-Elect To Speak At Orchestra Meeting

Posted: Updated:

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan passed an audition held by Detroiters last month, and he'll face the music before he even takes office.

Duggan serves as the keynote speaker Thursday at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's annual meeting at the Max M. Fisher Music Center. The man who was elected in November and becomes mayor next month plans to talk about the ensemble's role in revitalizing Detroit, which is undergoing the largest public bankruptcy reorganization in U.S. history.

Duggan is a former county prosecutor and hospital chief.

The theme of the orchestra's meeting is "People, Place and Purpose" and also will include performances by orchestra musicians and comments from DSO officials.
