One Simple Click Could Feed Families In Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - It only takes one click of your mouse, but the simple push of a button could mean a family in the community gets to eat.

"A lot of grants now a days are going to Facebook to be competitive with other non-profits, both in the area, in the region and nationally," said Kim Gladstone with the Greater Lansing Food Bank.

By just liking the Greater Lansing Food Bank on Facebook, you're helping them be competitive for grant money, which translates to food on the table here in Mid-Michigan.

"A lot of the monies that come in, go directly to food and to helping people and to feed people here in the community," said Gladstone.

In addition to grant money, you'll also be in the loop when they're looking for volunteers, something Gladstone says they really rely on.

"This year, 1,600 volunteers have put in close to 25,000 hours in volunteer time, so we could not pay volunteers to put in the amount of time that we have this year," she said.

The food bank is having another contest where a simple vote on Facebook could mean them getting a regional grant. A post is expected to be made on December 14 on where and how to participate.
