Mich. DNR Recommends $239,900 For Marysville Beach

Posted: Updated:

MARYSVILLE, Mich. (AP) - A Marysville beach could receive a facelift from one of 76 grants recommended by the state.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that Chrysler Beach could be in line for a $239,900 grant from the state Department of Natural Resources.

It was one of the projects recommended for part of more than $27 million from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. The fund was started in 1976 from interest on money from publicly owned minerals and is used for land acquisition and outdoor recreation.

About $8 million was recommended for recreation grants and $19 million for acquisition. The money for Marysville would fund a playground, fish cleaning station, new restrooms and picnic area.

Marysville Mayor Dan Damman says it will change the face of the waterfront.
