EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Michigan State's President Lou Anna Simon is asking the board of trustees not to give her a pay raise for the upcoming year.

Trustees say President Simon has declined raises in her base salary for six years. However, she will get a $25,000 increase in her retention bonus, for a total of $125,000. This is on top of her base salary of $520,000.

President Simon said the declined raises can be used for the university instead.
