There was an interested DeWitt spectator courtside, as football coach Rob Zimmerman took the game in.
One of his football stars, Josh Borta, was stretching out before the game.
In the third quarter, St. Johns had the lead. A baseline drive by Red Wings' Chase Broker to Austin Ervin underneath for a four-point lead. Ervins finished with 11 points.
But DeWitt caught fire in the second half. The Panthers got a backcourt steal, and fancy work by Justice Shankel, who drove in for two for a tie game.
Shankel played football too. And so did Josh Borta. He nailed a three from the outside, and Borta scored 17 points.
Two more for Raymond Stein following, and the Panthers outscored St. Johns, 23-9
DeWitt went away with a win, 68-49.
