General Motors Announces $1.3 Billion Investment In 5 Plants

Posted: Updated:

FLINT, Mich. (WLNS) - General Motors announced Monday that the company is investing $1.3 billion in five plants, creating or retaining about 1,000 jobs.

Of that money, $1.2 billion will be invested right here in Michigan, which is something Governor Rick Snyder calls particularly sweet.

In 2013, General Motors has invested $2.8 billion.

GM is investing $600 million into its Flint assembly, for facility upgrades, including a brand new, state of the art paint shop.

GM North American President Mark Reuss says investments are important everywhere, but especially so in Flint, the company's birthplace.

The rest of the money is going to Detroit and Romulus here in Michigan, Toledo, Ohio and Bedford, Indiana.

Speakers at the event detailed how GM has pushed through every storm, came out of bankruptcy and continues to build quality cars.
