Man Faces More Charges For Assaulting Officer

Posted: Updated:

Lansing (WLNS) - A man accused of getting into a fight with and biting three officers while naked is in even more trouble with the law.

But the new charges against Ronald Ray Ruhl, Jr., 26, don't stem from the incident in Meridian Township on December 8th.

Ingham County sheriff's deputies say Ruhl was at Sparrow Hospital for a medical evaluation on Friday, December 13, when he assaulted another officer.

According to the sheriff's department, a deputy removed Ruhl's chains so that he could use the bathroom. Once he got out, they say he immediately began attacking the deputy. During the assault, they say he managed to remove the taser from the deputy's belt.

It took the deputy, Sparrow staff members, and four Lansing police officers to contain him. The sheriff says his deputy suffered cuts and scrapes. Ruhl suffered minor injuries, as well.

Ruhl was not released from the hospital and continues to be under guard by Ingham County sheriff's deputies.

Warrants are now being sought in that incident, for assault on a police officer, disarming an officer and attempted escape from custody.
