INGHAM COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - Some local families became whole Tuesday in Ingham County court as a judge finalized adoptions.

Judge George Economy began the process Tuesday, giving 18 kids an official and legal title of family. The rest will be finalized on Wednesday.

It's the perfect start to the holiday season. "I see enough sadness in the court, bad things, that it reinforces my beilef in the good of human beings," said Judge Economy. "It's the highlight for me for the year beucase it's such a happy occasion. People stop me at various stores and say thank you. You put a smile on my face to see all those kids laughing and smiling."

Court officials say 18 adoptions in one session is a record for the county.
