Police: Foster Mom Leaves 2 Kids In Van At Store

Posted: Updated:

MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Police say a foster mother could face charges after leaving two young children in a van in Monroe with the engine off while temperatures were in the 20s.

The Monroe Evening News reports police were called Friday night to a drug store and saw the girls ages 1 and 3 sleeping inside the locked van. Police say the woman left the store with a third child and said she had gone inside to pick up some items.

An investigator checked surveillance video and determined she was inside for 12 minutes. She was released, but child neglect charges are expected.
