Prosecutor's Office Welcomes New, Fuzzy Staff Member

Posted: Updated:

The Eaton County Prosecutor's office is welcoming a very special victims advocate to their courtrooms.

His service career started with a failure as a seeing eye dog because he was too friendly towards his handler. Now, he's part of a select group of dogs helping those affected by crimes.

"When you meet Regan and you see Regan, you can see he's the kind of dog with the energy who's going to step up and help people and that's exactly what we wanted him to do. Obviously, a dog doesn't speak, but a dog has emotions and has feelings and he has the understanding to know when a person may need a nudge or at touch," said Doug Lloyd, the Eaton County Prosecutor.

Reagan is a 21-month-old labrador retriever. He will be the fifth dog to work in a Michigan prosecutor's office, providing support to children and adults.

Reagan officially started working on December 16.
