3 Boys To Be Honored For Finding, Returning Cash

Posted: Updated:

WARREN, Mich. (AP) - Mayor Jim Fouts will recognize three boys who turned in $100 they found in a box while playing in a Warren park.

Jason Burgess, Malachi Shelton and LaMont Kirkesy will be presented Thursday morning with mayoral resolutions at city hall for their honesty.

Burgess took the box to his grandmother who saw that a $10 check inside was made payable to the nearby First Church of Jesus Christ.

The money, check and donation box were returned to the church. The Rev. Charles Locklear says the money will be used for Christmas services.

Burgess and Shelton are 10. Kirkesy is 7.

Fouts says in a release that their actions show "that many youngsters today are honest and have been taught the right values by their parents and grandparents."
