Posted: Updated:

CLINTON COUNTY, Mich. (WLNS) - A 39-year-old is expected in court later Thursday after a car crash that started as an armed robbery.

It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday morning. Police say the 39-year-old man from Kalamazoo walked into the Admiral Gas Station in St. Johns with a gun, demanding cash.

When he got it, police say he took off. A sheriff's deputy was on his way to help when he spotted the man's vehicle heading west on Pratt Road in Olive Township.

That's when officials say the suspect lost control of his car and crashed into a ditch.

He was taken to the hospital, with minor injuries and then taken to jail.
