Lansing Institute Collects Gloves, Hats, Blankets For Homeless

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - As we enter the heart of winter in Mid-Michigan, the Greater Lansing African American Health Institute wants to help people stay warm.

They launched their inaugural "Keep Warm Giveaway" Friday to collect hats, gloves, coats and blankets that will be given to the homeless in Mid-Mchigan.

"Everybody can see outside it's cold, it's raining today especially, you know, it's getting bad out so we just wanted to do what we can to help people out and it's very important because it's freezing weather," said Ty Liggons with the institute.

If you'd like to help, you can drop off donations until 7:00p.m. at the Letts Community Center in Lansing. The donations will be distributed by the City Rescue Mission.
