Holiday Shoppers Flock To Malls For Last Minute Gifts

With just a few days left before Christmas, Mid-Michigan shoppers are making the push to check off last minute items off their holiday lists.

Customers filled the Meridian Mall today looking for all kinds of gifts. Scott Allen from Laingsburg has just two people left to shop for.

"My son is very hard to buy for because you know, boys are hard, but my girlfriend was easy because every girl loves diamonds," said Allen.

Allen got his girlfriend a ring, and he thinks she will be surprised.

"She has no idea," said Allen.

Other shoppers were taking pictures with Santa as well as hitching a ride on the choo choo train that travels inside the mall.

Clothing store owner Michael Doherty says that the environment has really put people into the Christmas spirit.

"Constant customers, lots of people out and its good to see. Its good energy in the air and everybody's ready for Christmas," said Doherty.

Even the threat of a winter storm isn't keep people from the mall.

"Holiday shoppers seem to find a way to get it done you know. Sometime during the day so I think it should be fine," said Doherty.

As for Allen, he's just happy he's finished with his shopping.

"Always last minute gifts just glad I got it done now, and everything's good," said Allen.
