Duggan Nominates Jackson Interim Fire Commissioner

DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan has nominated Jonathan Jackson to serve as the city's interim fire commissioner.

Duggan takes office Jan. 1. He made the announcement about Jackson's nomination on Monday.

Jackson currently serves as second deputy fire commissioner.

Pursuant to the city charter, Jackson's nomination is being submitted to the City Council for confirmation.

Duggan says he will take six months to conduct a national search for a permanent fire commissioner.

The mayor-elect made a series of other appointment announcements on Monday, including nominating former state insurance advocate Melvin "Butch" Hollowell as corporation counsel.
