Mom Charged With Murder Following Deadly Accident

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WLNS) - A Grand Ledge woman is facing murder and operating while intoxicated charges after a roll over accident in September.

Officials say Starr Kiogima-McGill, 27, caused a crash on I-96/I-69 at the entrance ramp onto W. Saginaw Highway while she was trying to merge. It happened on September 19. They say she hit another vehicle, causing her vehicle to roll over.

Her daughter, Natalie, was ejected from the vehicle and died from her injuries.

She's been charged with second degree murder, a felony punishable up to life in prison, and operating while intoxicated, punishable by up to prison for 15-years.

Kiogima was arraigned monday. Her bond was set at $1 million. She's due back in court next week.
