Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Progress has been made, but there's still a lot of work to be done to get electricity running to more than 200,000 people in the state after an ice storm this past weekend.

Additional crews are arriving by the hour to help with the damage. Both Consumers Energy and the Lansing Board of Water and Light are working to restore the many outages from the ice storm.

As of 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Lansing Board of Water and Light reports that outages have gone down from 19,00 to less than 7,500 customers without power. They say additional customers are expected to be restored by the end of Christmas day.

Consumers Energy reports that their outages decreased since storm from 300,000 to 129,000 customers without power. They're sending 1,000 additional workers to Michigan to help in restoration efforts.
