Thousands Still Wishing For Power On Christmas

Posted: Updated:

(WLNS) - Thousands across Michigan are hoping for a Christmas miracle to see their power restored.

Lansing Board of Water & Light says they have approximately 6,500 customers still without power, down from an origial 30,000. They're also working to repair hundreds of downed power lines, which are being prioritized for safety reasons.

Line crews are working to restore power along circuits in areas reflected by the following street intersections:

Pleasant Grove/Mt Hope
Cedar/E. Miller
Haslett/E. Saginaw

BWL says they're confident they can restore everyone's power, but say because of the weather, it's possible more people may lose power from heavy snow, ice lined trees and powerful winds.

Consumers Energy reports that their outages decreased since storm from 300,000 to 132,000 customers without power. They're sending 1,000 additional workers to Michigan to help in restoration efforts.
