Around 570K Initially Without Power In Michigan

Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Statewide, it's estimated around 570,000 homes and businesses were without power following an ice storm last weekend.

Consumers reported around 380,000 customers were in the dark and the Lansing Board of Water and Light reports around 40,000. The remaining were serviced by other utility companies.

Barry, Clinton, Eaton and Shiawassee counties, as well as Delta Township, have all issued a state of emergency.

The move makes them eligible for state aid, although no formal requests have been received in Lansing.

There has not been a statewide state of emergency declared.

There are still around 60,000 people in the State of Michigan without power. State officials say Consumers Energy and the Lansing Board of Water & Light expect to have power restored by Saturday night, while DTE Energy is looking at full restoration by Friday night.
