BWL Opens Customer Walk-In Centers

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Lansing Board of Water and Light has opened customer walk-in centers for those still without power. 

 

Lines wrapped around BWL's walk-in center Monday, full of frustrated people demanding, not only their power, but answers. The customer walk-in centers are in response to the difficulty that some customers are having in receiving timely information on their outage.

The centers opened Monday and will be staffed by BWL employees who will provide updates on restoration efforts to customers. BWL staff will also confirm that customers outage or down line reports are in the BWL system for restoration.

"There is no excuse for knowing that a storm was coming and not being prepared to deal with it. It seems like they're dealing with it more energetically today than they were Sunday," said Anthony Jones, who has been without power for nine days.

 

 

"The first few days we had to use our fireplace in the basement and now we've run out of wood," said Jeanette Hull, who has also been without power for nine days. Hull and her husband came hoping to find out when their power will return, but left unsatisfied.

 

 

 

"She said it could be today, could be tomorrow. Who kows? It could be next week, who knows?" said Hull.

 

 

Edward Moore says he came in expecting to hear a more clear answer about his power situation than he'd been getting on the phone, but Moore says that wasn't the case. "They just told me maybe Wednesday, but probably Friday," said Moore.

 

The centers will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. until further notice. 

The customer walk-in centers are located at:

 - BWL Customer Service Center, 1232 Haco Drive, Lansing

 - BWL REO Town Headquarters, 1201 S. Washington Ave., Lansing

 - Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Rd., East Lansing
