Forest Assistance Program Launches In Muskegon Co.

Posted: Updated:

FRUITLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The Muskegon Conservation District is holding an open meeting next month on its newly launched Forestry Assistance Program, created to help owners of wooded properties.

The public information meeting will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at White Lake Community Library. It's in Muskegon County's Fruitland Township, north of Muskegon.

The program gives landowners free consultation on all aspects of forest management, including preparing properties for timber sale, habitat management and preservation concerns.

MLive.com says the program includes a provision designed to reduce the number of tax millages that landowners pay on woodlands.
