Posted: Updated:

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Safety is important, especially on big nights like New Years Eve, which is why CATA will be offering rides home to those celebrating.

The bus company will offer a ride home for anyone in need of a safe ride. A total of 12 different buses are available to take people home between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. The 'safe ride home' buses will travel as far north as Sheridan road, as far east as Dobie Road, as far south as Holt Road and up to Waverly Road on the west.

Anyone who wants a ride must call between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Rides are on a first come, first serve basis.

Regular CATA fees apply to all riders. The cost is 60 cents for anyone showing a Medicare card, students, seniors and persons with disabilities and $1.25 for all others.

CATA says an average of 250 people take advantage of the rides home on New Years Eve and early New Years Day.
