LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The Lansing Board of Water and Light has posted Emergency Action and Emergency Procedures plans on their website.

According to the over 40 page document, BWL says they assign a task manager to oversee and bring in additional staff, as well as add spotters to assess damage and a customer service supervisor.

The company also released the priority they follow once power is out, saying first and foremost crews are responsible for clearing and making safe all energized downed wires. The first section they restore are emergency personel, such as hospitals, urgent care facilities, police and fire. After that's back online, they begin restoring customers.

General Manager Peter Lark told Lansing city council Monday night there isn't a clear formula they use to determine the number of crews they send out to fix an outage.

"The manager of that particular area, line department, as well as the manager of our system integrity group and our distribution group, the three of them confer with the information they have and make a decision based on how difficult it is going to repair," said Lark.

BWL has said power is expected to be restored by 11:59p.m. Tuesday.
