Huge Fire Destroys Family's Home

Posted: Updated:

HOLT, Mich. (WLNS) - A huge fire left a family without a home in Holt.

It started early Tuesday afternoon on Eifert Road. Officials say the fire started in the garage.

They tell us, three adults in their 60's lived in the home, along with three dogs. All three people made it out, but not all of the dogs did. In fact, one man went back in after the third dog and firemen had to drag him from the home for his own protection.

"Right now, we're looking for places for the family to stay warm and get them some warm clothes. I do believe we had some family members arrive on scene for them that'll take care of them," said Evan Bennehoff with the Ingham County Sheriff's Department.

Officials believe the home is a total loss. The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated.
