BWL Apologizes For Delays In Restoring Power

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - Lansing Board of Water and Light officials have issued an apology to customers who've suffered while crews continue to restore power.

It's been 11 days since many lost electricity. Most people do have their power back, but not everyone.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, the Director of Communications for BWL says crews have restored power to their "electric service territory."

The statement says crews plan to spend the rest of the day reconnecting single-service customer meters.

About 40 crews are available for the single-service reconnect efforts and outage investigations. Additional support crews will also assist in this effort, says the BWL.

They acknowledge that not everyone is up and running yet, but thank you for your patience and understanding.

The utility company also says there are still hundreds of customers who need their masts replaced and in some cases, an electrician may need to take a look before their power can be restored.

The BWL is urging customers not to repair their own masts and meter boxes. Beyond the possibility for serious injuries, any incorrect repairs may delay power restoration even longer.
