(WLNS - Pope Francis began 2014 with a message of unity, calling on all people to build a better society together.

January 1 is World Peace Day for the Catholic church, a day catholics dedicate tto promoting world peace.

It's also another opportunity for the new pope to reach out to the faithful.

The pope spoke to a massive crowd at Saint Peter's Square, urging them to build a more just and caring society and also to accept each other's differences.
